We are in the process of contacting local business owners to tell them about one of Google’s new updates coming along starting on April 21, 2015.
Basically what you need to know is that Google will be penalizing sites that aren’t considered “mobile-friendly” according to their guidelines for searches made on mobile devices. This change will include searches made on smartphones and tablets – which accounts for over 50% of search traffic today. Needless to say, its a pretty big deal for businesses that rely on their website to bring in customers.
To check whether or not your website passes Google’s test, you can use their Mobile-Friendly Test here.
If you have been contacted by us regarding this matter, your site has likely failed the test, and needs a mobile-friendly version. We have affordable, customizable options for business owners that only want to be mobile-compliant. Should you decide to change up your site’s look with a new design, a mobile version will be included for free as part of the design. We are also creating free mobile sites for our clients utilizing our SEO services. To have a complimentary mock-up of your new mobile site sent to you within 24-48 hours, contact us here or give us a call.
Unfortunately there are many business owners that we will be unable to contact by the time the update starts taking effect. If you have any friends, family, or associates that value the leads they are currently getting through their website, please ensure that they check out their site to make sure it is compatible with mobile devices before April 21, 2015.
You can review Google’s original article about the mobile-friendly change on their blog post here.
Again, if your site fails the “mobile-friendly” test and you are in need of a mobile version of your website, contact us here or call us to have your free mobile site mock-up sent to you within 24-48 business hours.
